Our Story

We're Steve and Sue. We've been dog lovers our whole lives. Black dog owners for the past 20 years and that love of black pooches runs through the rest of the family. Steve's sister Julie and her household, are home to as many as 5 black dogs at one time. Sue's family always had a black dog sharing the family home. So there's a special place in our hearts for the pooches that come as black and the reason we decided to name our own dog world as The Black Dog Trading Co.  

We support Zoe's Animal Rescue, a private not-for-profit business where we adopted our own black doggie, Smudge. Part of the sale from every order you place goes towards these great people and the work they do.
